Dear Friends of the Northern Lights Harp Fest:

Well, it's been ten years, five fests, thousands of steps, and a lot of fun. But now the Volunteer Organizing Committee of the NLHF has unanimously agreed to shut it down. We thank you for your support, and consider it a special privilege to have been able to help so many on their personal harp journeys. Over the past ten years we have met many wonderful people and had a fabulous time along the way. Volunteers, vendors, performers, presenters, and participants - all have contributed to the success of the Northern Lights Harp Fest and we thank each and every one of you.

The NLHF has been a proud supporter of OrKidstra ( An Ottawa initiative, OrKidstra is a social development program for children aged 5 to 18 living in under-served areas of Ottawa, Canada. Their mission is to empower children and build community through the universal language of music, and their vision is a future where all children and youth have the opportunity to find their voice and build their potential through music. We, the NLHF Committee members, have decided to direct our reserve capital funds to them as our legacy.

In the words of Gautama Buddha "Life is like the harp string, if it is strung too tight it won't play, if it is too loose it hangs, the tension that produces the beautiful sound lies in the middle".
